ParadoxPosted: February 22, 2014
This video is produced by Pulse Films, another video of which I can see potential ideas from. The camera is split into two, both of which coincide with each other and create some surreal footage. I can see the concept of paradox involved in the outcome: when one side is going forwards and the other backwards; when the bike wheel is spinning in opposite directions. I love the confusion it creates before you work out what is happening and I think there’s some definite ideas to work with in film. I’m hoping to try and work in this medium to try and create some visual momentous paradoxical scenarios of my own.
Having studied William Kentridge’s work recently also, I think there is definite scope for some paradox visual work in the way in which he creates movement – with markings and rubbings out done with stop motion footage.
